Meet the Team: James Tipple, Facilities Manager

At Jordan Fencing, many of our team members wear multiple hats and bring a wide range of skills to the business. This month we’re introducing James Tipple, our Facilities Manager, who has spent the last ten years building an impressive and varied career with the company.

Tell us a bit about your journey with Jordan Fencing

My journey with Jordan Fencing started around ten years ago when I was working as a self-employed gardener.

I first met Steve Jordan while doing paper rounds in the Harleston area. Steve was one of my customers and I started doing a day’s gardening work for him alongside my self-employed work.

After a couple of years, I decided I wanted a change of direction. Following conversations with Steve, we created a role that suited both the business and my skills. Initially, that involved maintaining holiday lets, developments and helping with general yard duties.

Since then, Jordan Fencing has supported me in developing my skills through a range of qualifications including my trailer test, Class 2 HGV licence with HIAB, forklift training, telehandler training, dumper certification, First Aid and triple STS qualifications.

Over the years, my role has continued to evolve and today I’m fortunate enough to work across many different areas of the business.

What does your role involve day to day?

The simple answer is… anything and everything!

One day I could be managing work on a development site, the next helping in the yard, carrying out maintenance work, operating machinery or supporting the wider team wherever needed.

The variety is one of the things I enjoy most. No two days are ever the same.

What’s been your favourite project or favourite part of the job?

For me, it’s the variety and the challenge.

I enjoy being pushed outside my comfort zone and taking on different responsibilities. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to learn something different, which keeps the role interesting.

What do you enjoy most about working at Jordan Fencing?

The team and the opportunities.

Over the last ten years I’ve been able to develop new skills, gain qualifications and take on responsibilities I never imagined when I first joined the company. There’s always something different happening and everyone works together to get the job done.

If you could describe Jordan Fencing in three words, what would they be?

Ambitious, loyal and a great team.

Those three words capture the culture of the business and the people who make it what it is.
