Meet the Team: Stephen Hammond, General Manager

At Jordan Fencing, our people are at the heart of everything we do. This month we’re getting to know Stephen Hammond, our General Manager, who has been part of the business since 2011.

Tell us a bit about your journey with Jordan Fencing

I joined Jordan Fencing in 2011 as a lorry driver. During my early years with the business I worked across both driving and fencing, which helped me gain valuable knowledge and experience of the industry.

Following a back injury, I spent more time working alongside Steve Jordan and became involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Over the years I worked my way through the company, taking on more responsibility and learning about different areas of the operation. Today, I am General Manager and support the business across a range of operational and contract activities.

What does your role involve day to day?

No two days are ever the same. My role includes overseeing contract works, supporting the yard team, programming projects and helping ensure work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

A large part of the role is keeping projects moving, solving problems and making sure the different areas of the business work together effectively.

What’s been your favourite project?

One project that stands out was an acoustic fencing installation in Dereham for Orbit Homes. It was a rewarding project to be involved in and one that I look back on with pride.

What do you enjoy most about working at Jordan Fencing?

I enjoy the variety. Every day brings different challenges and opportunities, and I’ve always appreciated being able to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities throughout my career with the company.

If you could describe Jordan Fencing in three words, what would they be?

Family-run, loyal and quality.

Those three words sum up the culture of the business and the way we work with both customers and colleagues.
