Next up in our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing Ben Watson, Sales Manager at Jordan Fencing.
Ben has been with Jordan Fencing since 2020 and has worked his way through several different roles within the business. So, it’s fair to say he knows the yard, our products and our customers pretty well!
What is your role at Jordan Fencing?
I’m the Sales Manager at Jordan Fencing.
How long have you worked at Jordan Fencing?
I joined Jordan Fencing in 2020 as a panel maker during Covid. Since then, I’ve worked my way up through the business, moving from panel maker to yardman, yard supervisor and sales executive before becoming Sales Manager.
Having worked in most areas of the business has given me a really good understanding of how everything works and what makes Jordan Fencing what it is today.
What does your role involve day to day?
I deal with our trade and retail customers, as well as our suppliers. That can be anything from responding to enquiries and putting together quotes to sourcing exactly what someone needs for a job at the most competitive price I can.
I also order our timber, concrete and associated products for the yard, schedule deliveries and work closely with our contracts team to make sure we’re using our transport as efficiently as possible.
A big part of my role is making sure we have what our customers need available, while also keeping an eye out for new products and ideas.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
Definitely building relationships with our customers.
Whether it’s someone’s first time using Jordan Fencing or their 100th, I think every customer should leave feeling valued and knowing that we’ve done our best to meet their needs.
Building those relationships and getting to know the people who come back to us time and time again is a big part of what I enjoy about the job.
If you could describe Jordan Fencing in three words, what would they be?
Reliable, dedicated and best in the game!
Tea or coffee, and how do you take it?
Decaf tea with Manuka honey.
Favourite biscuit?
A quadruple chocolate-coated cookie. If we’re calling that a biscuit!
Early bird or night owl?
Definitely an early bird. It means I can fit in a sauna and cold dip before getting on with the day.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?
Weekends are all about family time.
I also coach my son’s U8s football team, which I started last season. After more than 35 years of playing football and running local football teams, I can honestly say coaching the U8s has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences I’ve had in football.
And there has to be a roast on a Sunday!
